SHIMLA. FIVE more accused including former NSUI district President Hamirpur Praveen Thakur have been arrested by the Mandi police in the Mandi spurious liquor tragedy case today on Sunday. SP Mandi Shalini Agnihotri Salini said that other accused who have been arrested are Sunny and Pushpinder from Aligarh, Sagar Saini from Delhi and AK Tripathi from Jammu and Kashmir. All the five accused today produced before the Court and have been sent on police remand till 29 January.
These all accused have been apprehended by the SIT from various places and brought to Mandi , Yesterday. After interrogation they were arrested. In this case police have arrested 12 accused including the kingpin Gaurav Manhas alias Guru so far.
During the Investigation, it was revealed that Sagar Saini belonging to Delhi provided the spirit drums and AK Tripathi belonging to Samba, Jammu and Kashmir provided the formula. IN the building of Praveen Thakur this factory is run by two persons belonging to UP, Sunny and Pushpinder who do the mixing of ingredients for manufacture of liquor, said the Police officials.
Earlier Police had recovered some boxes of illicit liquor from the premises of Neeraj Thakur, General Secretary of Distt Congress Committee Hamirpur,who have been in police custody in Hamirpur.SP Hamirpur Akriti Sharma said that Neeraj Thakur has been taken in custody for the interrogation and today he was handed over to the SIT. He may be arrested, she added.
Neeraj Thakur was expelled from the party by the Distt Congress President Hamirpur , Rajinder Zar , yesterday and Congress President Kuldeep Singh Rathore today approved the action taken by the Zar today on Sunday. Rathore said that whosoever may be involved in such a heinous crime has no place in the party.
